• Teleworkers Spread Jelly

Looking for work? You might try Jelly.

A new way for teleworkers to connect has started to spread. They’re called Jellies and are occasional small gatherings of people who collaborate, brainstorm and share creative ideas—casual co-working some call it. Most people are social animals, and for some working from home can be lonely or stiflying with out social contact. So these get-togethers provide a great opportunity to get some creative stumulation.

The first one was held about 3 years ago, and participants were largely freelancers and entrepreneurs, but workers who telecommute are starting to join. Most participants are involved in some form of technology and have found that great ideas can come from just talking and surrounding yourself with people from different areas. Job offers can come from a Jelly, too.

If you telecommute, you work at home for a company and are not a freelancer, be sure you keep trade secrets to youself. Collaboration and exchanging ideas is stimulating, but if you’re sitting next to a competitor it’s easy for you to drop a secret tidbit or for them to take a peek at your laptop screen.
