I really like that you’re paying attention to the environmental aspect of teleworking.

Could you please turn on full feeds? Content summaries really suck.

    Thanks.

    You got it!

But does that mean we won’t see your smiling face around here again?

could you help me find a legitimate job, i’m not looking for a business. I have no experience what i’m looking for is either typing notes for a company. I was wonderin if i sent you a web site if you could check it out for me. My daughter teachers knew of someone that did enveloping stuffing and her job was legitimate so i was wondering if you could check one out for me i need to find a home job right away can you help me or do you know who can?

    Mary,

Be very careful. You’re just the kind of person that scammers prey on. Don’t under any circumstances send money to anyone to get a job, training, supplies, booklets or other job related materials. Real companies provide those things for free because they need good employees and are willing to pay what is necessary to find, train, and employ them.

As far as we know there are no legitimate home-based jobs typing notes or stuffing envelopes. Machines can stuff thousands of envelopes an hour for fractions of a penny each, so companies don’t need to hire people to stuff them. Transcriptionists are in demand, especially for medical dictation, but you need to be incredible accurate (at least 98%) and type 100 to 120 words per minute PLUS you need extensive medical and pharmaceutical knowledge to go with a thorough command of English grammar.

The fact is, Mary, to earn a reasonable income requires an education and experience, and those require dedication and self-discipline. Entry level jobs are available, and they train you, but you won’t find any legitimate ones that allow to you work from home. At least we haven’t found any, and we’ve scoured the industry for work-at-home jobs for our forthcoming book on telework.

Sorry we can’t be more encouraging, but what we’re telling you is the truth.

    Tom,

I’m trying to do my part to get the discussion of teleworking elevated to the national level. Everytime I see a related story on CNN, MSNBC, Fox or any other major site, I hit their blogs back with articles on teleworking, and always try to plug your site and Telcoa. It’s unbelievable to me that the candidates never discussed it in any of the debates in the early part of the election season, and I want to be certain that it does not get overlooked as we roll up to November.

The local NBC affiliate here in Atlanta did a piece on me a few weeks back (http://www.11alive.com/video/default.aspx?aid=93812&storyid=116029), so I guess I’m getting a reputation. I just want to say thanks to you for being the prophets that you are, and know that others are taking up the torch.

“Work is something you do, not a place you go!”
